Basketball Free Picks - September 09, 2008Today we are back on the WNBA hardwood with two picks. Over the last five days we have only lost one play en route to nailing two 5-unit picks to go up +10.2 units while hitting 83%. ![]() Today's WNBA Basketball Picks: The Phoenix Mercury brings their high-scoring game to Detroit for an inter-conference matchup. The Shock seemed invincible at home, starting the season at 10-0. The one thing that changed that was the Western Conference teams coming into town. While the Shock remains 10-0 against the East, they have lost three straight against teams from the Western Conference, failing to cover any of them. Since getting the rust out after the Olympic break and after scoring a season low 55 points, the Mercury has been playing their best basketball of the season. They have now won three straight by an average margin of 15 points per game. With the trouble the Shock has had at home vs. the West and with the Mercury getting it going, I like them to at least stay close in this one and will go with the dog here. Game: Seattle at Sacramento (10:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Sacramento -182 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 1.7) The Seattle Storm will come to Sacramento to face off with the Monarchs tonight. The Monarchs enter off a 9-3 run and have been playing well. They have been good at home all season where they have now run off a streak of seven straight. Seattle has dominated WNBA teams at home, but the road has been entirely a different story, where they are a lowly 6-9. When you factor in that five of those six teams have losing records on the season, the Storm has been very poor against the better teams on the road, garnering just one win. I like the value on the Monarchs here and will play them on the moneyline. Results: 1-1 ![]() WNBA Basketball Picks Resources:
