Wnba Betting Predictions - September 05, 2008

Today we are back on the WNBA hardwood with three premium plays.

Today's WNBA Basketball Picks:

Game: Atlanta at New York (7:35 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Atlanta +13.5 (-105) (risk 3 to win 2.9)

The Liberty opened the season by posting three of their first six wins that would have covered this line, but they have not been faring nearly as well. In their last nine games the Liberty would cover a line this size just once, and that includes two with this Atlanta Dream team, where their average winning margin has been just seven points. Their play at home has not been worthy of such a large spread as well. The Liberty has been 1-2 at home, squeaking out a single-point win and getting dumped by two losing teams. For as bad as the Dream has been all season, the actuality is they would be 11-2 ATS on the road against a line of this size, so I see a serious overlay in this one and will back the Dream.

The LA Sparks will make the trip to San Antonio tonight to square off with the Silver Stars. The Silver Stars are just a half game out in the West so each game becomes crucial. They split a pair of road games after the break, and will gladly return home for the first time since July 24. Home has been where the wins are for San Antonio, as they have protected their home court to the tune of a 12-2 record. The Sparks have been relegated to a sub-.500 team on the road at 7-8, and those numbers are kind. The Sparks opened the season at 5-1 on the road, but have gotten little done since as they have now gone 2-7 in their last nine. This will be their first time on the road in over a month, and I don't see them offering resistance to this San Antonio team, so I will back with the Silver Stars here.

The Sparks have been a no-show on the road, as I pointed out in my ATS write-up. With the Silver Stars coming home for the first time after a month, and the Sparks facing a hostile court for the first time, the moneyline makes sense here as well. I am also backing the Silver Stars on the moneyline.
