Wnba Game Predictions - June 29, 2010

After a rough start to the WNBA season, we have hit our stride, hitting 71% (10-4) for +16 units in the WNBA over the last two weeks. Today, we're on the floor with four more premium WNBA picks.

Today's WNBA Basketball Picks:

Game: Phoenix at Atlanta (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Phoenix +6.5 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)

The oddsmakers are seeing a lot more distance between these cubs than I do. Phoenix is struggling, but still well in contention to defend their title in the West, as just one team stands in at over 500. Atlanta is also struggling, out of the gate at 6-0, and has actually been outscored by opponents since the big start. This is a big game for Phoenix, and they will also be playing with revenge. The losses have mounted for the Mercury, but six games were decided by 3 points or less, or overtime. They are certainly are better than their record, while the jury is still out on this Atlanta club. I'll go with Phoenix here.

The Indiana Fever have come back from a slow start, to get into the thick of things in the East. This is a team that can play some defense, but is also finding the mark from deep. The Fever have connected on 27-53 from beyond the arc in their last three games - better than 50%. The Mystics have been a hot club, winners of five of their last six games, but a closer look becomes quite revealing. All six of those teams have losing records on the season. The Mystics actually have a losing record on the season when playing against a winning team. The Fever has owned this team as they are 9-4 ATS in the last 13 meetings, including 4-0 ATS in the last four trips to Washington. Ill go with Indiana here.

The San Antonio Silver Stars have regrouped from a horrible start, and have now covered four of their last five games. This is still a big game, as even at 57 there is just a single team at or over .500 in the West. The turnaround has come from finding the offense and pushing the ball up the floor. The Silver Stars averaged just 70.9 points per game through their first seven, but have averaged just shy of 84 ppg since. This is a typically good Seattle team, but with one difference - they like to push the ball and are averaging over 83 ppg, almost 10 better than a year ago. The Silver Stars have played their best basketball vs. the West at 6-2 ATS, and looking to avenge their two losses to the Storm this season by a combined 50 points, this one plays different and close. I like San Antonio and the OVER here.
