Today's WNBA Basketball Picks:

Game: Los Angeles at Atlanta (3:05 PM Eastern)

Four days ago the Dream hosted lowly Tulsa, laying 11.5 points. We loaded up on Tulsa and got the win as Atlanta won by only 6 points. Here we have a very similar situation and again I love the underdog getting a boatload of points. This seems like an easy pick on Atlanta who blew out the Sparks by 19 points the last time they met. In that game, LA had Candace Parker and in this one they won't. So this must be another easy double-digit win for LA, right? Not so fast. Atlanta may be thinking the same thing and you know what that means - letdown. Meanwhile, LA players are arching their backs, ready to atone for their most embarrassing loss of the season. It was the only game the Sparks have allowed 100+ in all season and you can bet they have had this game circled since. The Sparks have another reason to show up here - they are a couple of wins away from second place. The problem with Atlanta laying this many points is that their defense just doesn't justify it. Atlanta is allowing 83 points per game on the season, and nearly 90 their last five games. The Sparks are 32-14 ATS revenging a loss the past three seasons (14-5 ATS the past two seasons revenging a same-season loss). I like a motivated LA team here getting a lot of points.

The Mercury haven't lost four games in a row in more than two years. I think they avoid that fate today (or at least keep the game very close). The oddsmakers agree, making Phoneix a small 3-point underdog on the road vs. a team that is 5-1 at home. This is a good matchup for Phoenix. Their defense is their problem, but Washington doesn't score a whole lot. The Mystics could struggle to keep up with Phoenix's offense here. WNBA teams off back-to-back losses are very good bets, hitting at over 60% long-term. The Mercury are 12-4 ATS since last season as a dog. And over that same span, they are 10-1 ATS when coming off a road loss. Overall the past two seasons, Phoenix is 17-5 ATS following a loss. I like Phoenix here.

Chicago is only 3-4 at home. If you are below .500 at home after seven games in the WNBA, something is wrong. The problem for Chicago is defense as the Sky allow 83 ppg at home. They are coming off back-to-back wins, the last one at home, but that could spell trouble. The Sky are just 3-11 ATS dating back to last season when coming off a home win. They are 3-14 ATS over that span after a game as a favorite. Chicago is just 17-30 straight up at home vs. teams that score 73+ points per game. Indiana is 2-4 on the road but that play isn't indicative of their talent as they have outscored their opponents on the road 475-453. I like Indiana to notch the win here.
