Free Wnbapicks - June 20, 2008Today we feature a stacked WNBA card of six plays. Over the last four days our WNBA picks are 5-1 for +12.1 units. ![]() Today's WNBA Basketball Picks: Detroit is just one of two WNBA teams that remain unblemished at home. Tonight they will face a Minnesota team that is going through a bad stretch having dropped their last three. The Shock has not been challenged at home yet winning by a comfortable 11 points per game in their four played on familiar hardwood. They also have the memory of losing to the Lynx in Minnesota by 14, so this one will certainly have their attention. The Shock has depth as eight players on the roster are producing 5+ points. Not only have the Lynx dropped their last three, they have also dropped their last two road games, and barely escaped 0-11 Atlanta by four points. Revenge is a big motivator especially at home with the better team. The only shocker here would be if the Shock didn't come away with a double-digit win. Game: Connecticut at Sacramento (10:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Connecticut +100 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 3) Connecticut will try to avoid what they have not done all season tonight in Sacramento. The Sun have yet to lose two games in a row and after a deadly-hot Phoenix team handed them a loss in their last game, expect the focus to be very strong here. Good teams rebound well off a loss, and the Sun are the best in the WNBA at this stage of the season. They are also 4-2 on the road. Sacramento has not shown the ability to own their home court where they are an even .500. They have gotten a high percentage of three pointers from Nicole Powell and Kara Lawson, but Connecticut does a good job defending the three-point shot. The Monarchs just don't have the go-to scorer needed to close out a team like Connecticut. Sun won't get caught here. Game: Indiana at Seattle (10:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Seattle -5.5 (+100) (risk 3 to win 3) Pick: 3 units on Game Total OVER 138 -105 (risk 3 to win 2.9) Seattle is a team with two faces - two identities. The persona they take on when on the road does not resemble a good basketball team. It is a team that has lost five straight by an average of over 10 points per game. The persona they take on at home resembles a championship-caliber team. The Storm's lone blemish at home is to Connecticut, who has thus far positioned themselves as the team to beat in the WNBA. The other six home tilts have all gone into the win column by an average of nine points per game. That means this team is 19 points a game different at home than on the road! Indiana is getting lots of credit for hammering Connecticut on the road, but otherwise have a losing road mark. Their top scorers both shoot under 40% and as a team they barely reach 40% from the field. The key here is that they still manage to put up 71.3 points per game, meaning they play at a reasonably fast pace. Five of Seattle's last seven opponents have topped the 70-point mark as well. This game belongs to Seattle and should play in the 70s, so we will also grab the OVER here. Game: Chicago at Phoenix (10:35 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Phoenix -8.5 (-105) (risk 3 to win 2.9) Pick: 3 units on Game Total OVER 169 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7) Phoenix is an exciting team to watch as they get up and down the floor better than any WNBA team. That pace is reflected by the scoring column where they average 86.3 ppg. They have two very adept scorers in Cappie Pondexter (25.1 ppg) and Diana Turasi (24.4 ppg). They don't miss many opportunities from the charity stripe where they are connecting on 81.8%. The home tally has been even more impressive as they have scored 91.2 ppg. Chicago played their opener here and that game finished at 128 points scored, but now that these teams have their legs, the scoring and margin of victory should be much larger in this one. Chicago is a good shooting team at 43.3% and has had a favorable home schedule as this game is just their fourth on the road. Phoenix has blowout potential here in a high-scoring affair so we will also take the OVER. Results: 4-2 ![]() WNBA Basketball Picks Resources:
