Basketball Pick Pro - June 12, 2009There was no action on the WNBA side last night and we pick up today hitting 58% for +6.3 units so far this season. Today we roll three premium WNBA picks, featuring a 4-unit play.
![]() Today's WNBA Basketball Picks: The Minnesota Lynx have come out smoking at 3-0, and have caught teams by surprise with their up-tempo offense. It has, however, been producing less points game by game, and now they face the best defense in the WNBA. Seattle led the WNBA in both FG percentage defense, and fewest points allowed. Early on, they are doing it again with better numbers - allowing 37% shooting against them. The Lynx are going to have to do it on just more than one end of the court to win this one, and they haven't shown the ability to do that yet. Seattle is 18-7 ATS in their last 25 games overall, and the Lynx have struggled within the Western Conference at just 1-6 ATS in their last seven. Seattle is better equipped to play both ends of the court, and I will go with them in this one.Game: Atlanta at Chicago (8:30 PM Eastern) Pick: 4 units on Game Total OVER 146 -110 (risk 4 to win 3.6) The Atlanta Dream allowed 77 or more points in 15 of their last 17 games last year, which is half the season. Here they go again as each of their first two opponents has reached the mark as well - running the total to 17 of 19. When they took to the road, the defense was completely absent as they allowed 85.3 points per game! They may be somewhat better this season, but they have allowed 77 and 86 points in their first two games already. The Chicago Sky went the last 24 games last season without touching 85, and that is what they put up in their opener on the road. It certainly lends value to a total posted below 150, especially when you consider that Atlanta is 18-6 OVER against the East since their inception. These teams averaged just shy of 160 ppg in their four meetings a year ago, and I would expect this one to be very close to that, so I will be on the OVER here.Game: Phoenix at Sacramento (10:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Phoenix +0 (+100) (risk 3 to win 3) It's no secret that the Phoenix Mercury is going to race up and down the court and score some points. The secret is that their defense gets much less credit because of it. They finished in the middle of the pack last year in FG percentage allowed, while the surprise is, Sacramento finished dead last! That can be costly against a top offensive team, and one playing with confidence. The Mercury won their two exhibition games and their first two regular season games for the first time since 2000. The Monarchs have been searching for offense, and just Kara Lawson and Nicole Powell are averaging in double-digits. The addition of DeWanna Bonner for the Mercury, who is averaging 14.5 points and eight boards, makes this team a viable contender in the West, and I'll back them in this one. Results: 2-1 ![]() WNBA Basketball Picks Resources:
