Today's WNBA Basketball Picks:

Game: Sacramento at Washington (4:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on Sacramento +5.5 (-110) (risk 4 to win 3.6)

When a team starts as poorly as Sacramento did (3-14), there comes a time when they become a team to back. The oddsmakers start shading the lines, giving extra value each and every game. Their opponents take them lightly and may let down. And, the team that was really bad starts making enough adjustments to improve. The Monarchs are off a confidence-inspiring 15-point win on the road over New York. I like them to keep this game close. Sacramento has covered the spread in 17 of the last 20 matchups between these teams including eight of ten here in Washington! As bad as the Monarchs have had it this season, they are still 15-3 ATS this season and last after a non-conference game including a perfect 10-0 ATS following back-to-back non-conference games. Washington meanwhile is 7-17 ATS at home over that same span and 3-13 ATS coming off a win.

A 6-9 team is only getting about one basket from a 12-5 team. Seems like a trap to me and I'm not taking it. In fact, I like the 6-9 team quite a bit. The Liberty are coming off their worst home loss of the season, suffering a 15-point beat down at the hands of the league's worst team, Sacramento. Think New York will be motivated to show up here? Phoenix is dominant at home (9-2) but they are just 3-3 on the road this season, getting outscored by 5 points per game on average. Phoenix is a low-pressure team and that's exactly the type of team that New York has historically dominated. Versus teams that average under seven steals per game, the Liberty are 14-2 ATS the past three seasons. Finally, New York is 8-1 ATS the past two seasons after a double-digit loss. I like a motivated New York squad in this one.
