Wnba Sports Picks - July 26, 2008

Today's WNBA Basketball Picks:

Game: Chicago at Houston (8:35 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on Chicago +6.5 (-110) (risk 4 to win 3.6)

The Chicago Sky travels to Houston tonight to face the Houston Comets. The Sky has little to show in the win column on the road this season as they come to Houston at just 2-10 on - just a half game better than the league worst Atlanta dream at 2-11. They have however, held their own against the lower half of the league where Houston resides. While they have averaged losing by 8.2 points per game against the top seven teams in the league based on winning percentage on the road, they have actually lost by an average of just 2.7 ppg against the bottom seven, and in no game have any of the bottom teams beaten them by more than nine points. We see this one being a lot closer and we will ride the Sky here.

The Indiana Fever has been a tough team to figure out. They lost to Atlanta at home when they were playing good, went to Connecticut when Connecticut was ripping everyone apart and beat them by 29 points on the road! Just when you think this team isn't very good they pull a surprise and we have that feeling for this one, especially with Sacramento winning six straight. We expect them to come and play here and may catch Sacramento off guard thinking they have an easy one. History in this league is on our side. Favorites in the WNBA that have won at least three straight and are well rested, playing five games or less in 14 days, have been beaten ATS to the tune of 74-43 good for 63.2%. Our suspicions of being snuck up on by this Indiana team take on more meaning when you consider that WNBA teams that have won 2+ games, and have a winning record on the season, playing against a team with a losing record are getting beat ATS to the tune of 49-20, or 71% of the time. That is enough for us to back the Fever here.
