Basketball Free Picks - July 19, 2008
Two WNBA plays today with a 4-unit pick.
Today's WNBA Basketball Picks:
Game: Minnesota at San Antonio (8:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on San Antonio -6.5 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
San Antonio has the best record in the WNBA for one reason - they know and understand the value of their home court. San Antonio has produced a stellar 11-1 record at home, with the lone loss was by a single point to Houston. Minnesota looked like the surprise team in the WNBA at the beginning of the season as they rolled out to an impressive 5-0 start. They have faded since going just 5-10 over their last 15. They have been lethargic on the road during this stretch, having gone just 1-6 in their last seven road tilts. San Antonio gets our call and comes away with a convincing win here.
Game: Atlanta at Phoenix (10:05 PM Eastern)Pick: 4 units on Atlanta +11.5 (-105) (risk 4 to win 3.8)
If there was ever a team that could have quit, look no further than the Atlanta Dream who opened the season at 0-17. Ever since losing in OT on the road at Connecticut, this team has begun to believe. The Dream has dropped just two of their last 10 games by double-digits and has been 3-3 in their last six. Phoenix gets the flash points with its high-octane offense, but it hasn't helped them recently, as they have struggled to a 2-5 mark over their last seven games. Their problem is giving up 94.7 points per game in this stretch, and the potent offense hasn't been able to outscore their lackluster defense. The Dream has shown a vast improvement from a team that dropped eight of their first 13 by 10+, and we like them to hang tough here.
