Wnba Basketball Pick - July 18, 2008
We nailed our 5-unit play yesterday to spit our picks 1-1, grabbing a couple of units. Today we feature three WNBA premium picks.
Today's WNBA Basketball Picks:
Game: Detroit at Washington (7:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Washington +157 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 4.7)
The Shock has been the best home team in the WNBA remaining unblemished at 10-0. They have not had nearly the same success on the road, where they are just 5-7. They have not won on the road since beating Atlanta on June 22, dropping four straight. The Mystics have been quite the same, losing 10 on the road, but just four at home. So is this a 5-7 team (Detroit on the road), against a 5-4 team (Washington at home)? In some respects it is, and the Mystics have already logged a win at home over Connecticut, and we like their chances against a road-vulnerable Detroit team.
Game: Seattle at Indiana (7:05 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Indiana -163 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 1.8)
Seattle has been a hot team as they have now won six straight games, but there is a caveat to the streak as five of those were at home where they have been 12-1 this season. The road has seen them drop six of their last seven, and they are obviously a completely different team outside of Seattle. Indiana has logged five wins at home in their last six, and this should be a good spot for them. Seattle last played on July 12, and is facing a four-game road trip. Seattle may also be a bit rusty here, while for Indiana, it marks their third-consecutive home game. Seattle hasn't even been coming close on the road where in their last six losses, covering seven road games, they have been beaten by an average of 13.3 points per game with five of the six coming by double-digits. The Fever get the call here on the moneyline.
Game: Connecticut at Chicago (8:35 PM Eastern)Pick: 2 units on Game Total OVER 146.5 -110 (risk 2 to win 1.8)
After opening 8-1, and looking like the class of the WNBA, Connecticut has fallen hard and fast. The Sun has now gone just 2-6 over their last eight dropping four in a row. The biggest problem has been the lack of intensity on the defensive end where the Sun has now given up an average of 80 ppg in those last eight games. The Sky hasn't been shy about offense at home where they put up 76.5 ppg. Offensively the Sun is scoring, but just not committed on defense, so we like this one to top the posted total.
