Free Wnba Expert Pick - July 12, 2008

We split our picks yestarday 1-1. Today we feature five WNBA picks with a 4-unit play.

Today's WNBA Basketball Picks:

Game: Chicago at Indiana (7:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Game Total OVER 141.5 +100 (risk 3 to win 3)

Chicago has not been able to slow anyone down on the road at all. In their last seven road games they have averaged yielding a 83.1 points per game! The fact that they have also scored well has led to the games averaging 162 ppg, with none under 141. Chicago is also 17-6 to the OVER in road games after allowing 75 or more points. At the same time Indiana is 12-3 to the OVER after getting out-rebounded by 15+ in their last game. We like the OVER in this one.

This Minnesota team has to be looking to play this one with a chip on their shoulder. Minnesota dropped one at home last time out to Atlanta that was winless on the road. Houston has really struggled all season long on the road where they are just 3-9 in 12 games. This is a Houston team that played through a hot streak going 8-2, and it was during this streak they won all three of their road games this season. Otherwise this Comets team is 1-9, and has now dropped their last two games. You have to like Minnesota at home coming off a brutal loss against a Comets team that has not done much winning outside of their streak, especially on the road where they have not won at all.

Phoenix is beyond a doubt the most exciting team in the WNBA, and offense is their game. When you have Diana Turasi and Cappy Poindexter both well over 20 point scorers, it gives you the capability of winning anywhere, and that has allowed Phoenix to have amassed as many road wins as any team in the WNBA. As the offense has become more perfected, so have the results on the road where they are 4-2 over their last six. This will be the first time these teams have met this year and it may catch Sacramento off-guard. Phoenix scores 80+ every time out and that has not been a good spot for Sacramento as they are just 1-4 when they allow 80+. Good spot for the Mercury to grab another road win.

This is a great matchup in Seattle tonight with the LA Sparks coming to town. The winner of this game gets second place in the WNBA West. What makes this even better is that Seattle has been one of the top home teams in the WNBA, while LA is the top road team at 5-3 is the only team that has a winning road record. LA had a longtime before hitting the road playing seven straight at home before finally venturing on the road against Sacramento, and as expected, were thumped. We now expect that they have their road faces back on and will be more focused on this one. They already own a 14-point win at home over this Seattle team. We just don't see Seattle being close to 20 points better in this one over that first contest, so will back the Sparks here.

We added our insights as to why we like the Mercury, and the fact that these teams have not met yet could really catch Sacramento off-guard. Sacramento has not fared well at all when teams score, and that is what Phoenix does best so we are also grabbing the Mercury on the moneyline here.
