Wnbapicks - July 11, 2008

Our bumpy WNBA road continued yestarday as we hit with only one pick for another small setback. Today we are back on the ladies' hardwood with two selections.

Today's WNBA Basketball Picks:

Game: Washington at Detroit (7:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Game Total OVER 146 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7)

The Shock have left themselves in good position to capture the WNBA East. They have yet to lose at home and have nine of their 15 remaining games in Detroit where they have been unbeatable. Although they are averaging less than 80 points a game on the season, they have managed 83.3 points per game in home tilts, and overall their home games have seen an average of 157.5 ppg scored. Washington has attempted a slow-down style, but that has led to some low-scoring games. They have not been able to dictate that pace against some of the more potent offenses, playing in the 190s in Phoenix, the 160s at Connecticut, and the 180s at home to Phoenix. The Shock will dictate the pace here, and that has proven to be enough to put this one in the OVER column and that is our play in this one.

Game: Atlanta at San Antonio (8:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Atlanta +10.5 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)

The Dream started with a nightmare this season as they went 0-17. They have since gone 2-0 both SU and ATS and they have covered the spread in four of their last six. This was bound to happen as the linesmakers and public over-adjusted spreads. It seems like there is this is still occuring, at least for one more game as we get the now "hot" Dream at +10.5. Let's not forget that in their last six games as a double-digit dog, Atlanta is 4-2 ATS. Atlanta's problem is defense but San Antonio is 1-8 ATS the past two seasons at home vs. bad defensive teams (those allowing 77+ ppg).

Results: 1-1
