Wnba Basketball Pick - July 10, 2008
Today we are back on the WNBA hardwood with four picks including a 4-unit play.
Today's WNBA Basketball Picks:
Game: Phoenix at Seattle (3:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Game Total OVER 172.5 +100 (risk 3 to win 3)
The Phoenix Mercury is the most exciting team in the WNBA and invades Seattle tonight for what should be an entertaining game if you like points. Phoenix has perfected the run-and-gun game and over its last 10 games, 55% of the time either they or their opponent has reached the 90-point mark, if not both. The average points scored in these last 10 games has been 181.6 points per game or over 90 ppg for each team. In their first 16 games Seattle reached 80 points just two times, both against this Phoenix team, and their recent play suggests a more up-tempo game, as they have averaged 86.3 ppg. We look for a lot of points to be scored from both sides here and expect this one to go OVER.
Game: San Antonio at Chicago (7:05 PM Eastern)Pick: 4 units on Chicago +133 (moneyline) (risk 4 to win 5.3)Pick: 3 units on Game Total OVER 146.5 +100 (risk 3 to win 3)
San Antonio has built the best record in the WNBA for one reason; they have been unbeatable at home. The Silver Stars have been 10-1 at home while going just 3-5 on the road. What is significant in their five losses they have lost four of them to teams that have below .500 records, so we sure give the Sky more than a chance to get the win at home. What is also significant is that in the posted total, San Antonio has also given up 80 ppg to these teams in their four road losses, where only one team in the 11 games they have played at home has even reached 80 points, so will also ride the OVER in this one.
Game: Los Angeles at Sacramento (9:05 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Sacramento -2 (+100) (risk 3 to win 3)
The Sparks caught a great break in their schedule as they have spent the last 18 days and seven games playing in front of the home crowd. Oddly enough is that they dropped three in a row at one point. They will now hit the road for the first time in over three weeks. This has to be an odd feeling for a team that has been relaxed with the home crowd behind them for weeks. Sacramento has made some strides at home where they have now won three of their last four. The WNBA is rich in history of teams revenging a loss when coming off a loss to a division rival. These “revenging” teams have been 137-79, so we will back Sacramento in this one.
Results: 1-2

On the surface Indiana looks like a mediocre team at 7-8. They do have a unique characteristic however, as they are the only WNBA team in either conference to have an above .500 record at home where t...
