Today's WNBA Basketball Picks:

The LA Sparks and the New York Liberty will square off in New York tonight, and thus far both teams have struggled to identical 3-6 marks in the early going. The Sparks are still looking for their first road win of the season as they are 0-5. This one will be different, as last year's top rookie and MVP - Candace Parker will play for the second time and after logging 20 minutes vs.  Phoenix, she will likely see more action tonight. The Liberty has been out of action since last Thursday, and the long layoff could be a factor tonight. The Sparks have been 5-2 ATS in their last seven trips to the Big Apple, where they tend to get up for games on the road. The Sparks were supposed to be cutting down the nets at the end of it all this season, so the talent level is certainly there and they should make their move as their star gets comfortable on the court again. I like LA in this one.

The Sacramento Monarchs got off to a horrific start at 1-8, but have now won two straight. They had an offensive bump in a two-game stretch that saw them score just 47 and 52 points, but otherwise this team has not had a problem scoring. They have produced 70+ in the eight games surrounding the mini offensive slump. Seattle, after dropping just one game at home a year ago enters this one at 4-0, including an 80-70 win vs. Sacramento at home earlier this season. This league has changed dramatically in terms of scoring. Back in 2005, there were only two teams that averaged 70 points per game, and now all 13 teams average 70+ points a game, so a total this low has to get the attention. The Monarchs have played five straight to the OVER after a straight-up win, and eight of their last 11 on the road. I look for this one to go OVER the total.
