Wnba Betting Predictions - July 08, 2008
Today we are back on the WNBA hardwood with five picks including two solid 4-unit plays.
Today's WNBA Basketball Picks:
Game: Houston at Phoenix (3:35 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on Phoenix -5.5 (-110) (risk 4 to win 3.6)
Pick: 3 units on Game Total OVER 172.5 -105 (risk 3 to win 2.9)
Phoenix is an exciting team, and they have spent a good deal of their recent games on the road. They are coming off a successful 4-3 road trip, and the offense has taken center stage, but truly shining at home. The Sun has played seven home games, with only one going under this total. The average points scored in those seven games has been a league high 185.4 points per game. We definitely like the OVER here. We also like the Mercury, who has played well on the road, now brings their running game home to feed it with even more energy. The Comets have lost games by an average of nearly nine points per game when they give up 80 points or more. The Mercury is almost a cinch for 80, so we like them here at home.
Game: Connecticut at Detroit (7:35 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Connecticut +178 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 5.3)
This will be the third meeting between these teams with each exchanging home court blowouts in the first two. The Sun holds the slimmest of leads in the conference over Detroit by just a half game. The Shock hasn’t exactly played great basketball after a quick start, as they have gone just 5-5 in their last 10. When you consider the fact that two of those five wins were against lowly Atlanta, this is a great opportunity for the Sun to steal one on the road and put them in position to win the conference, as these teams don't meet again the rest of the season. The Sun had a bad offensive night last trip here, but they have produced 70+ points in just one other game, and things should be different here. We expect a big effort from the Sun and they come away with the win here.
Game: New York at San Antonio (8:05 PM Eastern)Pick: 4 units on New York +6.5 (-110) (risk 4 to win 3.6)
San Antonio is 9-1 at home and has played tough here. But despite as much they are winning, the margins of victory have been diminishing, especially against the better teams. While they opened the season at home in impressive fashion winning three out of the first four by double-digits on their home court, things haven't gone quite as easy for them since. Those double-digit margins have not been achieved since. The last six home games show a net margin of winning by 3.7 points per game. New York has already logged wins at Phoenix and LA on this road trip and has to be considered holding the value in this one so the Liberty gets the call.
Game: Seattle at Sacramento (10:05 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Sacramento -2 (-110) (risk 3 to win 2.7)
The Monarchs may be at the bottom of the Western Conference standings, but it has nothing to do with their play at home. There are currently four teams with only six losses in the WNBA, and the Monarchs dropped three games to these teams, but have beaten everyone else, including beating one of the six-loss teams at home. Their margin of winning against the rest of the league shows them winning by 7.5 ppg, and they stand at 4-0. Seattle has done a lot of winning at home, but has yet to prove they are worthy on the road where they have now dropped six straight, four of them by double-digits. Sacramento may look like a poor team, but has more than handled teams like Seattle at home and they get the nod here.
Results: 2-3
