Today's WNBA Basketball Picks:

Game: Seattle at Los Angeles (5:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 2 units on Game Total UNDER 150 -110 (risk 2 to win 1.8)

The Los Angeles Sparks saw any hopes they had of making a run go down the tubes when Candace Parker was lost with a shoulder injury for the rest of the season. They were not a good team with Parker, they are a bad one without her. Seattle is a team that plays defense as well as anyone, even on the road where most teams fail. When they have been favored on the road, it has shown as the Storm has now played to a 24-14 mark to the UNDER in the 38 games they have been favored on the road, all the way back to 2000. I like this one to go UNDER the total.

Atlanta has not at all resembled the team that flew like an eagle from the tip-off of game one through the final buzzer in game six. The record shows a 6-0 start, outscoring opponents by 83 total points - complete dominance. The problem is that the oddsmakers have treated them like the team that was 6-0, and they simply aren't. The Dream has since recorded just a single win by 8 points or more in their last 11 games. Chicago is playing very well and has covered four of their last five and eight of their last 12, suffering just one loss by 7 points or more in their last six games. I like the Sky to hang tough in this one and will back Chicago here.

The Tulsa Shock, with a new location, new coach and 10 new players on their roster expected to take some bumps and they have, dropping nine straight games. The Washington Mystics are growing fast and have won seven of their last eight. They have found the answer on the defensive end of the court. Take out the expected shootouts vs. a Phoenix team, and their last seven show them allowing 66.7 points per game not including overtime. They have also shutdown bad teams, as nine of their last 12 vs. a team with a losing record have played UNDER the total. The last four times these teams have met with Washington on the road, none have been able to top the total, and I don't expect this one to either. UNDER gets the nod.

The Phoenix Mercury, last year's WNBA Champions, have really had trouble finding their way. It has really held this line down, and even though they come into this one an unthinkable 5-11 for the season, they are amazingly one game out of a playoffs spot. It is time to rise and shine in Phoenix, and I would not be surprised to see this team go on an extended run. The Liberty, despite winning three straight, is not a good team and haven't been for quite some time. They have not won four in a row since the opening of the 2007 season. The Mercury have done their best in this spot, as they are 20-7 ATS following a straight-up loss. I like Phoenix in this spot.
