Free Wnba Pick Sports - July 01, 2010Our WNBA picks have caught fire as we sit at 12-6 (67%) over the last two weeks. During that span, we have added +16 units to our WNBA backers' coffers. Today we hit the court with a trio of premium WNBA picks including a 5-unit selection.
![]() Today's WNBA Basketball Picks: The Minnesota Lynx have been bitten by the injury bug this season. They lost star player Siemone Augustus for the first nine games, and just as she was coming back, their next best player Candice Wiggins was lost for the year with an Achillies injury. The Lynx have still gotten a lot better with Augustus in the lineup. She can carry a team, and has. After her first game back, when she was limited, the Lynx have been 3-2, and not beaten by large margins. They were 2-8 beforehand. The Atlanta Dream opened 6-0, outscoring the sixs teams by 83 points, and looked like the team to beat in the WNBA. They have since fallen sharply without a win by more than 8 points since. They have won five of their last six games but there may be a false sense of security coming from those wins. The fact is, they allowed 80+ in all six and 90+ in three of their last seven, averaging 88 ppg allowed over that span. Laying nearly double-digits with that kind of defense is not smart. I'll really like the Lynx to keep it close here.Game: Washington at Phoenix (10:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 2 units on Phoenix -3.5 (-110) (risk 2 to win 1.8) Phoenix has lost five in a row and they may again be without the reigning MVP Diana Taurasi. But I like them here at home. This team averages 96 points per game at home and Washington gets nearly 20 points less on average per game. Yes, the Mercury defense is atrocious, but here at home, desperately in need of a win to stop the bleeding, I think the Phoenix defense shows up. Washington has won four of their last six and they seem to be rolling, but this team is just 6-17 ATS thee past three seasons when coming off a home win (including 3-12 when that win was in a division game). As added motivation, Phoenix is seeking revenge here for a 10-point loss to Washington in June. The Mercury are 16-5 ATS the past two seasons when seeking revenge. I like them to break their skid with a win and cover here.Game: San Antonio at Los Angeles (10:30 PM Eastern) Pick: 4 units on San Antonio -160 (moneyline) (risk 4 to win 2.5) It has and will be a long season for the Sparks. They were not doing well to begin with, but when Candace Parker went down with a season-ending shoulder injury, the lights went out in LA. The Sparks are just 3-11, and that includes 0-4 since Parker went down. The wins are going to be scarce the rest of the way. San Antonio is one of those in-between teams. They are not good enough to beat the good teams, as they are 0-7 vs. winning teams, but much more capable of beating the subpar teams, as they are 5-1 vs. teams with a losing record. Tonight they get another shot at a bad team, and they are more than capable, as they have proven all season. I'll go with San Antonio on the moneyline. ![]() WNBA Basketball Picks Resources:
