Wnba Basketball Picks - August 30, 2008

Yesterday we split our picks for a slight loss. Today we are back on the WNBA hardwood with four more picks.

Today's WNBA Basketball Picks:

Game: Atlanta at Indiana (7:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 2 units on Atlanta +12.5 (+100) (risk 2 to win 2)

Atlanta opened the season with 17 straight losses, and many wondered if they would find the win column this season. They answered that call with three wins in their next five games. They dropped eight of their first 13 games by more than 10 points, but have dropped just five of their last 15 by that margin. This is a much more competitive team, and they have already beaten the Fever once this season, and dropped the other by just nine points. This is an overlay, so we will grab the Dream to stay closer.

The Houston Comets make the trip to Sacramento to face the Monarchs. These teams are separated in the standings by the slimmest of margins - a half game, with the Monarchs holding the edge. Where they are much more distant has to do with the venue of this game. Sacramento has been among the WNBA's elite home teams where they will carry a 10-4 mark into this contest. Houston, on the other hand, has been uncompetitive on the road. The Comets have been the worst team in the WNBA outside the lowly Atlanta Dream, where they have put together a dismal 3-11 mark. We will back the home-strong Monarch's against the road-dead Comets in this one.

The Silver Stars head to Hollywood to take on the LA Sparks. The Silver Stars got off to a poor start at 3-4, but have been the best in the WNBA since, as they have logged a 16-5 record. The improvement has shown itself on the road the most where the Silver Stars opened the WNBA season with an 0-4 mark. They have since gone 7-2, and have won three straight on the road. The Sparks looked like the elite WNBA team as they roared to a 10-3 start, but have really fallen apart, as they have logged a disappointing 6-9 mark in their last 15. The Silver Stars are winning with defense as their last three on the road have gone under, and the Sparks have played three of their last four under. We will back the Silver Stars here and the UNDER.
