Today's WNBA Basketball Picks:
Game: Detroit at Washington (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on Washington -160 (moneyline) (risk 4 to win 2.5)
These teams have turned in completely different directions from a year ago. The Shock was sitting atop the East, while the Mystics endured a painfully woeful season. The only Eastern team this year that has been up to the task of handling this Mystics team at home has been runaway league leader Indiana. The Shock has had little success on the road, or at all this season, and their biggest road win of the entire season has been by a mere four points, and that was at lowly Sacramento. The best they seem to manage is a 2-9 ATS mark against the East in their last 11. The Mystics won in Detroit earlier this year, a far cry from the four double-digit beatings they took last year vs. the Shock. I'll go with Washington on the moneyline here.
Game: Connecticut at Minnesota (8:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Minnesota -2 (+100) (risk 3 to win 3)
The Minnesota Lynx took a hit when Simeone Agustus went down for the season early on, but they have adjusted. They have not fared well in the West, that outside of Indiana in the East, is a much stronger conference overall. The Lynx have been better than the East as they are 3-1 at home against them, while they continue to struggle against the better western teams. Connecticut is not the team they were a season ago, and have dropped three of their last four, and have yet to face a western team on the road all season, and this should be a wakeup call. The Lynx have proven they are always in the mix against the East where they are 8-2 ATS in their last 10. I'm going with Minnesota here.
Game: New York at Sacramento (10:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on New York +2 (+100) (risk 3 to win 3)
A pair of struggling teams square off in Sacramento tonight. Sacramento may not be advisable as a favorite against anyone with just three home wins on the season, and a 2-4 ATS mark as a favorite. They struggle to score, already having posted five games scoring in the 40s and 50s, so they are a tough team to trust in the role of a favorite. The Liberty has had struggles of their own, but seems to have sorted out their offensive issues as they have scored 73+ in six of their last seven games. The Monarchs aren't any better against teams with a losing record as they are 3-7 ATS. I like the team that seems to have things sorted out on the offensive end, and will go with the Liberty.
