Nhl Pick - October 22, 2008

We missed on last night's play however we look to add to our 3-2, +9.8 unit performance over that past four days with two picks from the ice today.

Today's NHL Hockey Picks:

Game: San Jose at Philadelphia (7:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Philadelphia +120 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 3.6)

The Sharks are off to a nice quick 5-1 start while the Flyers have yet to find the win column in the '08-09 NHL season through five games. The Sharks have benefited from four home games, all wins.  While they eked out a 1-0 win on the road vs Los Angeles, they lost to Anaheim 4-0, so the reality is they have outscored teams at home 17-8, but have been outscored on the road 4-1. The Flyers gave the Sharks their toughest game at home and after leading by 2 goals gave it up in OT. This one will be different as the Flyers have the home ice and the Sharks have not been the same team on the road.

Two teams off to quick starts will meet in St. Louis as the Blues host the Redwings. The Blues have been a thorn in the side of the Redwings of late as they have taken seven of the last ten times these teams have met, including four of the last five in St. Louis. These teams have played tight low-scoring games through their recent history. The last 20 games have seen these teams combine for five goals or less and that includes eight of the last ten played in St. Louis. I'll back this one to go under the total.
