Free Nhl Hockey Picks - November 11, 2008Today we are on the NHL ice with a stacked early-week card of four picks with one matinee game. ![]() Today's NHL Hockey Picks: The Islanders have been living in a nightmare, as they have just two wins to show for their last nine efforts on the ice. On average the Isles’ have been getting out-scored by a goal a game - one of the losses came during this stretch at Philly in OT. The Flyers have already seen five of their 13 games end in either OT, or a shootout, but in their last seven they have been the opposite of the Rangers where they have out-scored their opponents by a goal a game. There is a big gap between these teams right now, and I'm going with the Flyers on the road here. Game: Ottawa at Montreal (7:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Ottawa +146 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 4.4)
Game: Pittsburgh at Detroit (7:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 2 units on Game Total UNDER 5.5 -125 (risk 2 to win 1.6) A rematch of the Stanley Cup Finals Series from a year ago pits the Penguins against the Cup-winning Red Wings. Both of these teams are off to good starts and trying to get back to the Promised Land once again. Their series last year showed five of the six games scoring five goals or less, and they did not meet in the regular season. You can be sure this one will have the same playoff-like intensity from the season finale last year. The Penguins have played to a 14-6 mark to the UNDER in their last 20 road tilts, while the Red Wings have been 8-3-2 to the UNDER in their last 13 home games against a team with a winning road record. Playoff intensity and history both say UNDER here. Game: Dallas at Los Angeles (10:35 PM Eastern) Pick: 2 units on Game Total UNDER 5.5 +110 (risk 2 to win 2.2) The Dallas Stars are struggling out of the gate. They have just not been able to score on the road where they have averaged a meager two goals a game, producing two or less in seven of their nine road games this season. The story has been a similar one for the Kings at home. Amazingly, they have been shutout three times on home ice already this season. The Kings have now played five straight to the UNDER when their opponent has allowed two goals or less in their last game, while the Stars have played to a 4-1-1- UNDER mark against the Pacific Division in their last six. This one surely has the signature of a 2-1, 3-2 type of game, so I'll back the UNDER here. Results: 2-2 ![]() NHL Hockey Picks Resources:
