Free Nhl Hockey Picks - November 06, 2008Today we feature three premium NHL picks including two 4-unit plays. ![]() Today's NHL Hockey Picks: After getting out of the gate in sizzling fashion at 4-0, The Oilers have fallen on hard times, as they have recorded just two wins in their last eight games. The biggest problem has been behind the net and overall defense. The Oilers have allowed 24 goals in their last seven games or 3.42 a game, and even with the offense scoring four a game in the last three, it has not stemmed the tide. Pittsburgh scored six in their last game, but has had the same struggles behind the net, allowing three per game in the last three. These teams are both finding the net, yet neither seem to be able to stop anyone right now, so I'll back the OVER here. Game: Minnesota at Colorado (9:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 4 units on Colorado -140 (moneyline) (risk 4 to win 2.9) The Avalanche have had a roller coaster season so far, winless in three, undefeated in five, and now winless in four. The Wild have not been very productive of late either, as they opened the season with just 1 OT loss in their first six games, but have been a much different team since. They have now dropped three of their last four, and are having a hard time putting the puck in the net. The Wild has averaged less than two goals per game in their last four, and that spells trouble for a team that has allowed two or more goals in nine of their 12 games. Colorado seems to have the Wild's number as they took the last three from them in the playoffs last year, as well as the season finale. I'll back the Avalanche in this one. Game: Florida at Los Angeles (10:35 PM Eastern) Pick: 4 units on Los Angeles -132 (moneyline) (risk 4 to win 3) The Panthers have had some difficult travel of late, as they have gone from the road in Ottawa, back home to Florida, out to St. Louis, back to Florida, then back out for one game on the road to Nashville, and Atlanta, and from Atlanta, cross country to LA. It is showing in their play, as they have dropped their last four. They have not only lost, but have been out-scored 15-6. The Kings have been a hard-luck team that has lost six games by a single goal, and despite their 3-6-2 record, they have only been out-scored by four goals on the season. They will have their best chance tonight against the travel-weary Panthers who are in a deeper valley right now. I'll back the Kings here. Results: 2-1 ![]() NHL Hockey Picks Resources:
