Today's NHL Hockey Picks:
Game: Detroit at Pittsburgh (8:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 5 units on Detroit +104 (moneyline) (risk 5 to win 5.2)
Detroit dominated at home but now the series switches to Pittsburgh. Will the result change? Nah. Isn't it obvious how much better Detroit really is? Sure, Pittsburgh steamrolled through the early rounds. But, they have run in a buzzsaw called the Red Wings. The vaunted Penguins offense, with superstars Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, could not manage a single goal in the first two games as Pittsburgh lost by a combined score of 7-0. Detroit is simply that much better. Chris Osgood is in the zone right now as he stopped all 41 shots that came his way in the first two games. He's posted a 94% save rate in the playoffs. We know Pittsburgh is 8-0 here in the playoffs but to get this Red Wings team at even money is a gift too good to pass up. Detroit is 5-1 in their last six road playoff games, winning on average by a score of 4.2 to 1.8! This season they are 28-9 off a home win, 25-10 off a 2+ goal win and 8-0 after two straight 3+ goal wins. They are 14-1 in the Stanley Cup Finals the past decade.
