Today's NHL Hockey Picks:
Game: Pittsburgh at Detroit (8:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Detroit -170 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 1.8)
As we predicted, the Penguins struggled in game one. Yes, they have been absolutely great throughout the playoffs. But, the Red Wings are a whole different story. You just don't come into Detroit and win. Detroit is too good here. They are now winning their home playoff games by an average score of 3.2 to 1.3! They have allowed more than 2 goals at home just once. The nervousness should wear off a bit for the young Penguins here but we still don't think they have what it takes to win here - not tonight. Detroit outshot Pittsburgh 25-7 over the final two sessions and that can't bode well for their confidence going into game two. With the win, Detroit improved to 16-4 at home the past two seasons vs. elite teams (those outscoring their opponents by 0.5+ goals per game) and 21-5 this season vs. excellent power play teams (19%+ conversion). The Wings are 27-9 this season after allowing under 2 goals and 34-10 after a 2+ goal win. We like Detroit to deliver more of the same here.

We have been on Pittsburgh a lot this postseason and they have rewarded us and their backers with a 10-1 record. This is the time we get off that train and go strong the other way. If there were a gam...
