Free Nhl Hockey Picks - May 14, 2008

We pulled the hat-trick in reverse last night losing all three wagers. That dropped our playoffs unit gain down to +34.6. Tonight we look to bounce back with one pick...

Today's NHL Hockey Picks:

Game: Detroit at Dallas (8:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Detroit -170 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 1.8)

We've been all over Detroit in this series, banking with them on both the moneyline and puckline. We are going to stick strictly with a moneyline pick here as we expect Dallas to play their best game of the series with their backs against the wall. Dallas, down 3-0, obviously needs this game more. They have likely resigned themselves to the reality that they will not win this series. But, their pride will drive them to get at least one win. That being said, we are still backing the Red Wings. They are just too superior of a team. We think they still win this game, although likely not in blowout fashion. The Red Wings are scoring on everyone, in any location. Their last five games have netted them 4.8 goals per game while they have held their opponents to 1.8. Dallas' offense has dissappeared as they get deeper into the playoffs. They have managed just 11 total goals in their last six games, never getting more than 2 in a game. Can they all of a sudden turn that around? Can they all of a sudden shut down a Detroit team that has put up 11 goals on them in three games? Not likely. Detroit is 17-3 off a 2+ goal road win this season. They are also 25-4 the past two seasons off a road win in which they scored 4+ goals. Finally, when the Red Wings smell blood, they turn into sharks as they are 18-3 over the past decade in playoff close-out games.

We have been on Pittsburgh a lot this postseason and they have rewarded us and their backers with a 10-1 record. This is the time we get off that train and go strong the other way. If there were a gam...

Detroit took care of business, as predicted, in games one and two. Now the linesmakers and-or the public seem to think that Dallas has about an equal shot at winning here at home. We disagree. Detroit...

We took the OVER in game on of this series and it came through as the Penguins continued their roll, winning 4-2. In this game we like Pittsburgh to again win by 2+ goals. The Penguins are 9-1 in the ...

We were all over Detroit in game one on the moneyline and puckline as they won 4-1. This moneyline has gotten a bit out of hand and we don't think there's value in backing Detroit at greater t...

Philadelphia in the playoffs have continued what they did in the regular season - score a lot while playing mediocre defense. They averaged 3.1 goals per game in the regular season and they ahve boost...
