Today's NHL Hockey Picks:
Game: Chicago at Vancouver (10:35 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Chicago +130 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 3.9)
The Blackhawks and the Canucks find themselves even in four games through this series, so it has really now come down to a best two out of three. This series seems to have placed the momentum on the loser of the prior game, that comes roaring back to simply play with more purpose and intensity the next game. I expect no less from Chicago tonight in this one, who has certainly proven they can win on the road – winning on the road in each of their first two series. Their defensive effort from last game may pay dividends tonight, as they are not only 5-3 in their last eight on the road, but after a solid defensive effort allowing two goals or less, they have come back the next game to go 7-3 in their last 10 overall. The Canucks have not been able to get over the hump, and this round has been their demise, as they are just 3-9 in their last 12 conference semi-final games. I like the Blackhawks to go up 3-2 in the series with a solid road effort tonight.
Game: Chicago at Vancouver (10:40 PM Eastern)Pick: 4 units on Chicago +1.5 goals -230 (puckline) (risk 4 to win 1.7)
I gave a lot of my reasoning for the Blackhawks in this one, and I like them on the puckline as well. Each of these teams has shown the capacity to win on foreign ice in this series, and the Blackhawks also won on the road in their series opener at Calgary. They are also 5-3 in their last eight road games overall, and finished the regular season at 17-6 if facing a +1.5 puckline on the road. I'll also go with the Blackhawks on the puckline in this one.
