In a crazy turn of events, all of the lower seeds won their series in the West. So, the fifth-seeded San Jose Sharks incredibly gets home-ice here. San Jose ended the regular season on fire and have kept up their hot play. They've now won 12 of their last 14 and they are sure happy to see Edmonton at home here instead of going to Detroit to face the Red Wings. Edmonton played inspired hockey against Detroit in round one so we can't count them out, despite their eigth seed. But, I like this matchup for San Jose. How much longer can Edmonton play this well? You don't sneak into the playoffs and then play amazing top-seed level play in the playoffs forever. The Oilers' strength is their offense but that doesn't scare San Jose as they were 21-9 in the second half vs. teams that scored 3+ goals per game. San Jose scored 3.5 per game at home this season and they beat Nashville by an average score of 3.4 to 2.0. Sharks here.
