Free Nhl Hockey Picks - May 02, 2008
We took a step backwards yesterday as Pittsburgh got creamed. We had that one way wrong. In any case, we are hitting 65% for +26.2 units over the past three weeks. Tonight we like the game alot and will again double-team it with a moneyline and puckline play.
Today's NHL Hockey Picks:
Game: Dallas at San Jose (10:05 PM Eastern)
Pick: 5 units on Dallas +125 (moneyline) (risk 5 to win 6.3)
San Jose staved off elimination with a 2-1 squeaker last game. It was the fourth straight game in which they scored 2 or fewer goals vs. the Stars. Dallas is the better, more motivated team. They aren't going to continue to score just one goal. If they can get their offense back on track (averaging 3.1 goals per game during playoffs even with that 1 goal performance), then they will win this game. Their defense has allowed just 20 goals so far in 10 playoff games. San Jose is scoring just 2.4 per game in the playoffs combined. Yes, this game is in San Jose, but the Sharks have lost 10 of the last 14 games vs. Dallas here at home. Dallas has a winning record as an underdog this season including a 4-1 mark in the playoffs. They are 26-20 on the road this season and 12-5 revening a home loss. San Jose, as mentioned above, just can't score, and that's a bad omen for them. THe past three season theya re just 3-8 at home following three straight games scoring 2 or less goals. We like the Stars here a lot, especially as an underdog.

If San Jose does pick up the win, we see the chances of it being a blowout as extremely remote. As such, we'll back the Stars on the +1.5 puckline as well.
