The Predators push for the playoffs continues as they head to Columbus. Both teams have played excellent defense of late but Columbus has had trouble with familiar foes this season. In their 27 division games they have allowed an average of 3.2 goals per game. Nashville is off a shutout over this very team. We think Columbus' offense will be inspired to make up for that and we often like to go against defenses performing that will in consecutive games. Nashville in particular is 13-6 OVER this season after holding an opponent to 0 or 1 goal last game.
Game: St. Louis at Detroit (7:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Game Total OVER 5 -135 (risk 3 to win 2.2)
This one could get ugly. Detroit is averaging 3.3 goals per game at home this season and 3.6 per game over their last five. St. Louis gives up 3.6 per game on the road. Detroit could get this one to 5 all by themselves. The Red Wings are 24-12 OVER the past two seasons when facing a losing team. They are 6-0 OVER during that span when facing a terrible offensive team (those scoring under 2.5 goals per game). St. Louis is again sliding and they are 16-7 OVER the past two seasons after having lost 6+ of their last eight games. They are 13-5 OVER this season on the road coming off a loss.
