Today's NHL Hockey Picks:

Game: Philadelphia at Pittsburgh (1:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Pittsburgh -190 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 1.6)

The defending Stanley Cup Champions Pittsburgh Penguins will be glad to get home today as they have played seven of their last eight on the road. They will face a Flyers team that is playing as bad as they have all season. The Flyers have won just one game in their last seven, and have been equally poor on the road, losing six of their last seven. The Flyers have also been horrible on the road when facing a team with a better than .500 winning percentage on the season as they are 5-17 over their last 22 in that situation. The Flyers have never had success here at 5-16 over their last 21, so I'll go with Pittsburgh here.

The Florida Panthers have come out on the wrong side of 12 of their last 18 games, and it is fairly easy to pinpoint the shortcomings. They have allowed 56 goals over the 18-game stretch, better than 3 per game. They have also managed to average better than 3 per game over their last 11. Ottawa has been no bargain over their last 18 defensively, where they have allowed 4 or more in half of the games. I look for this one to go OVER the total.
