Nhl Prediction - March 27, 2009We dropped a heartbreaker last night on the ice as Toronto lost in OT as a +230 dog. We move on today with three more premium NHL picks... Exclusive 100% Bonus at BetPhoenix! ![]() Today's NHL Hockey Picks: Only the defending Stanley Cup Champion Detroit Redwings have more home wins on the season than the New Jersey Devils. They actually have more road wins than the Blackhawks have home wins, so certainly there is value in looking at this Devils’ team as a dog here. The Blackhawks’ best hockey certainly hasn't been seen over the last 15 games as they have managed to put just five of the 15 in the win column. The Devils come in here well rested with three days off, where they have gone 74-35-6 in their last 111. I will take them as a live dog in this one.Game: Vancouver at Colorado (9:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Colorado +170 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 5.1) The Colorado Avalanche has been a respectable .500 team at home, and they remain the only NHL team to not to lose a game in OT where they are 3-0, as well as 9-2 in games decided by a shootout. They are 6-0 at home in contests decided beyond regulation, so if they hang in the game, they win it. Vancouver has done a nice job on the road, but as the season grows late, they have not been the same team on the road. Over the last month they are just 1-5 on the road and this is some big chalk for a team struggling to find the win column on the highway. What compounds the problem for them is that this is their third game in four nights - a situation where they are just 16-35 over their last 51. I'll back the Avalanche here.Game: Edmonton at Anaheim (10:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Edmonton +150 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 4.5) The Anaheim Ducks have won four straight for the third time this season, but have had difficulty sustaining long streaks as they are barely a breakeven team at home. Edmonton has lost three straight, but has not lost more than three straight since October, and you can bet they will be ready to breakout here. They actually have more road wins than the Ducks have at home. The Oilers have the Ducks’ number as they have taken 25 of the last 34 games (one tie) against the Ducks. In the last 10 played in Anaheim, the Oilers have come away with the win eight times. It is hard to ignore those numbers, so I will go with Edmonton here. Results: 1-2 ![]() NHL Hockey Picks Resources:
