Game: Washington at Tampa Bay (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Tampa Bay +125 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 3.8)
The Capitals are making a run for their first playoff appearance since 2003. THey've won a couple i n a row to move within two points of Boston. Can they make it three ina row? We don't think so. Their suspect road defense is likely to have trouble tonighnt with a Lightning team that can score. Tampa Bay is averaging 3.1 goals per game at home this season and 3.2 per game in division contests. They are a decent home team. Washington is just 14-23 this season vs. losing teams and 17-42 the past two seasons when facing an excellent power-play tema (those scoring on 19%+ of their opportunities). We like the home dog here.
Game: Atlanta at Florida (7:30 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Game Total OVER 5.5 +110 (risk 3 to win 3.3)
Atlanta can't score but they make up for it with lack of defense. They are allowing 3.5 per game on the road this season and 4.0 per game over their last five. Florida is coming off an UNDER and they are 14-7 OVER in that situation this season. They are also 35-22 OVER after scoring 1 goal or less over the past three seasons. We look for that see-saw to continue against the bad Thrashers defense and for this one to go OVER.
