Free Nhl Predictions - March 24, 2010

We had a monster day yesterday going 9-1 (90%) in ALL SPORTS for +29.3 units of profit.  Yesterdays wins included a perfect 7-0 on the ice for +22 units of profit.  This puts our five month NHL record to 287-212 for +149.4 units.  Yesterday's wins also included two winning 5 unit plays (one in CBB and one in NHL) adding to our CBB, NBA and NHL 5 unit season total of 111-64 for 63%.  Today we look to continue the stride with three premium NHL plays including another 5 unit selection.

Today's NHL Hockey Picks:

Game: Montreal at Buffalo (7:35 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Montreal +145 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 4.4)

Montreal has played better down the stretch, including the road, where they have won four of their last six and have outscored their opponent by a full goal a game in the process. Buffalo has really fallen hard over the last couple of months and have landed on the right side of just eight of their last 25 games. The Sabres are also just 4-10 in their last 14 when their opponent allowed two or less in their last game and the Canadiens are a perfect 5-0 when their opponent scored 5+ in their last game. These teams are heading in opposite directions, and Ill go with Montreal here.

I see some good value grabbing the plus side of the moneyline vs a team that has managed to win just eight of their last 25 games. When you push those numbers over to the puckline, they would have just four games in their last 25 winning by 2 goals or more, or just 16% of the time, facing just 2-1 odds here grabbing the Canadiens. Montreal has gone down by 2+ goals just one time in their last 10 games, which says Montreal on the puckline.

The LA Kings have done just as much winning on the road as the Avalanche have done at home. The difference is they have done a lot more lately, where they are winners of nine of their last 12 on the road. The Avalanche have lost three in their last five, so a true advantage overall to play on the Kings here. This is a home-and-home situation with these teams having met in their last game where in the 2nd game in this situation, Colorado has been 5-16-1 and the Kings have been 4-1. The Avalanche are also just 8-17 in their last 25 vs the Pacific. I'll go with Los Angeles here.
