Hockey Predictions - March 24, 2009Today we roll out a 5-unit play and feature a total of three picks... Exclusive 100% Bonus at BetPhoenix! ![]() Today's NHL Hockey Picks: The Dallas Stars have done a better job at home than the Vancouver Canucks have done on the road, so there is value off the bat with Dallas listed as a plus moneyline on home ice. Dallas has lost three straight, but all three of those were on the road, as they swept their last two-game home stand, where they have played at a much higher level. The Canucks have won 12 straight on home ice, but the road has been a completely different story. This Jekyll and Hyde team has also dropped four straight on the road, and are now 0-5 in a game after they allow five or more goals. The Stars, after a loss of three goals or more, have rebounded to go 50-24-7 in their next game. The Canucks’ road woes have never gotten healthy in Dallas as they are just 3-9 in their last 12. I'm going with Dallas in this one.Game: Minnesota at New York Rangers (8:30 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Game Total OVER 5 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7) The Minnesota Wild has not had a lot of success on the road this season. The problem is their inability to stop teams on the road, where they have allowed 3.4 goals a game over their last 10 road tilts. The Rangers have suddenly become a hot team on offense as they have scored 4+ goals in seven of their last 10 games. The Rangers only managed to do that seven times in their previous 38 games, so they are definitely clicking on the offensive end right now. The surge has led to them playing seven of their last 10 to the OVER, and this series has proven to be high scoring as well, with four of the last five going OVER the total. I will take this one to go OVER the total.Game: Detroit at Edmonton (9:30 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Detroit -160 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 1.9) The Redwings hit the wall from mid-January to mid-February, where they endured a five-game losing streak, and overall played losing hockey. They have righted the ship and are back to being the Redwings again. They have averaged 4.67 goals a game in their last six, making them very difficult to beat. The Oilers have lost their presence at home as they are just 5-7 in their last 12 on home ice, and dealing with a hot Redwings’ offense will not make it easy to log a win here. When the Wings score five, their next game has seen them go 41-19-5. The Oilers are also now just 0-5 in their last five games posted as a home underdog. No upset here, the Redwings get the call. Results: 1-2 ![]() NHL Hockey Picks Resources:
