Game: Washington at Buffalo (7:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Washington +265 (risk 3 to win 8)
Washington has scored 11 goals vs. Buffalo in three games this year. Over their last five games they are averaging 3.8 per game while playing improved defense. In their last two games they have scored 12 and allowed just 2 goals. Buffalo isn't playing great right now. Their defense has sagged and their offense has dropped off. The Sabres have lost five of seven and shouldn't be laying this kind of wood right now.
Game: Philadelphia at New York Rangers (7:30 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Philadelphia +260 (risk 3 to win 7.8)
Philadelphia is 20-8 vs. the Rangers in the last 29 played in New York including 5-2 in the last seven. New York has struggled this season against division opponents, posting a losing record and scoring just 2.4 per game. The Rangers are just 9-12 at home vs. poor defensive teams (allowing 30+ shots on goal per game) this season. They are also a sub-.500 team overall at home this season and 15-18 the last two seasons at home vs. division foes. The Rangers have won two straight but they are 2-6 this season following a 2-game winning streak.
Game: Colorado at Edmonton (9:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Edmonton +1.5 -150 (risk 3 to win 2)
Colorado is playing well right now having won eight of their last nine games. Edmonton is just the opposite having dropped eleven in a row. But, this level of play from the Avs can't continue. They just aren't that good of a team. They are off a draining OT game against San Jose in which they came back from two goals down to win. The Avalanche are 7-13 the past two seasons off a close home win by 1 goal. Edmonton is close to .500 at home, they just haven't had any offense to speak of. Against Colorado, they should be able to score. Colorado is only 18-20 this season as a favorite. Edmonton is off a 1-2 loss to Vancouver and the Oilers are 10-1 the past two seasons off a 1 goal loss to a division rival. We'll take Edmonton +1.5 on the puck line here knowing they have a chance to win but if not, should keep it close.
