Today's NHL Hockey Picks:

Game: Buffalo at Florida (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on Buffalo -140 (moneyline) (risk 4 to win 2.9)

The Florida Panthers have been folding down the stretch, and have been on the right side of just four of their last 14 games. They exploded for 7 goals vs. Philadelphia, but in their other 13 games during this stretch, have managed just 24 goals or less than 2 per contest. They have also allowed 46, so they have not only been getting beat, but trampled. The Sabres have snapped out of a bad stretch where they were just 1-8, are the league’s worst home underdog where they are a dismal 5-24 in their last 29 as a home pup. The Sabres are also dominating in Florida, where they have won five of the last six meetings. I'll go with Buffalo here.

The Panthers are struggling, allowing 46 goals in their last 14, and in those last 14, with the exception of the Flyers game where they netted 7, the offense has generated 24. They have also been a miserable team when playing as a home dog, winning just five of their last 29. The Sabres have dominated play here in Florida, winning five of the last six trips here, making this a good spot for the puckline. I'll go with Buffalo on the puckline in this one.

Anytime you can get the Blackhawks at plus money, you stand a very good chance at cashing in. That would have been the case 67.2% of the time in their last 55 games. Those same last 55 games have seen them as a plus money underdog just six times, and they are a perfect 6-0 in the six games. Phoenix has played well and has gone without a loss in seven straight games, which should ensure getting the Blackhawks’ attention here when they are at their best. Chicago has fared well vs. the Coyotes as they have taken six of the last eight games played between these squads, and I like the value on them here in the dog role. Chicago gets the call.

This might appear to be a lot of wood to lay, but the Blackhawks have proven successful in this situation. They have lined up at center ice six times as a dog this season, and won all of them straight up. That makes eight straight in the regular season going back to last year. Losing is rare for this team as it is, but losing by two goals - even rarer as they have done so just six times in their last 55 games, or 10.9% of the time. That certainly puts the odds here in perspective, so I'll grab Chicago on the puckline.
