Today's NHL Hockey Picks:

Game: Minnesota at New Jersey (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on Game Total OVER 5 -120 (risk 4 to win 3.3)

The Wild has done poorly on the road this season. Lately, they have been finding the net with a greater frequency as they have averaged 2.67 goals a game in their last six road tilts. The problem is however, that they are allowing 3.2 at the same time. Overall, when their road games have not been a push result, the OVER has been 7-3 in their last 10. New Jersey has been highly-productive offensively as well as consistent, as they have now scored three goals or more in nine of their last 10 games. In their last 11 homes games vs. a team with a losing road record, they have played OVER in eight of those 11. These teams have also gone OVER the total in four of their last five meetings, so I like this one to topple the total as well.
Game: Philadelphia at Buffalo (7:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 6 -110 (risk 3 to win 2.7)

This is a pretty lofty total by NHL standards, especially with a Flyers’ team that has scored a measly seven goals in their last four road games, or less than two per outing. When you consider the Sabres have allowed the opponent one goal or less in three of their last four as well, this one begins to take shape as a much lower-scoring game than indicated. Additionally, the Flyers have played to an 11-4-2 mark against teams with a winning home record, and overall have gone 19-7-3 to the UNDER in their last 29 on the road. The Sabres now stand at 8-3-1 to the UNDER in their last 12 on home ice, so I'm backing the signals and going with the UNDER here.

Game: Detroit at Atlanta (7:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Detroit -180 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 1.7)
You have to really trust a team to cover a big number on the road, but whom better than the Stanley Cup winner Redwings? They have rolled in their last four on the road, winning them all by a combined total score of 17-4. When this team gets it going you have to ride them because they win big. The Thrashers had their best run winning six straight, but lost the last time out and will be ripe again as they have a losing home mark. The Redwings are an amazing 41-15 in a game vs. an opponent that allowed five or more goals in their previous game, while the Thrashers are 19-42 after allowing five goals or more  in their last game. The Redwings are dominating against the Thrashers, taking eight of the last 10, so I'll go with Detroit here.
Game: Los Angeles at Pittsburgh (7:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Los Angeles +235 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 7.1)

We cashed with Los Angeles as a huge dog last night in Boston, and coming right back with them tonight. It's not their first surprise as they also took down Washington as an over +200 dog. The Penguins haven't been playing up to the odds as a huge -200 or higher favorite this season as they stand at just 5-4 the nine previous games this season as a huge chalk. The Kings also have the history here as they are 7-2-1 in their last 10 meetings with the Penguins, and an even better 5-1-1 in their last seven played in Pittsburgh. We have a live dog here, and I'm sticking with the Kings.

Results: 1-3
