Nhl Hockey Predictions - March 12, 2010We were balnked on the NHL ice yesterday 0-4. today we look to bounce back with five more premiunm picks.
 Today's NHL Hockey Picks: The Pittsburgh Penguins are poised to make their stretch run in defense of their Stanley Cup Title. They have come out of the Olympic break grabbing four of five games, with the only loss in OT. This New Jersey club came out of the gate this season looking like they would be heading to the NHL finals, but their level of play has dropped off dramatically. They have come out on the right side of just seven of their last 21 games - a significant loss of confidence. The Penguins have dropped off so bad that they are now 0-8 in their last eight games posted as a favorite of -110 to -150. This is a tough spot as the Penguins are playing well. I'll go with Pittsburgh here.Game: New York Rangers at Atlanta (7:30 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on New York Rangers -120 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2.5) The Rangers have been snakebit losing their last four, with two coming in overtime. They have a good chance to get healthy vs. a Thrashers team that has seen their offense buried in a four-game slump. Atlanta has managed to score just 4 goals in their last four games or just 1 per game, so it’s needless to say that they are winless in the stretch. They have also coughed-up 24 goals in their last seven games, so they’re not getting it done on either end of the ice. The situation worsens for the Thrashers as this is their fourth game in six nights, where they have previously dropped their last five in that situation. The Rangers should have their way here, and get the call.Game: New York Rangers at Atlanta (7:35 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on New York Rangers -1.5 goals +250 (puckline) (risk 3 to win 7.5) I see a great opportunity here with premium, and valued odds on the puckline here backing the Rangers. The Thrashers have produced all of 4 goals in their last four games and at the same time have allowed 24 in their last seven. They are also playing their fourth game in six nights, where they have dropped each of their last five in that situation. I'm going with the Rangers on the puckline.Game: Los Angeles at Dallas (8:35 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Los Angeles +100 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 3) The Kings have stepped up and have been on the right side of 14 of their last 20 games, or 70%. That includes eight of their last 11 on the road, where they have come up big. The Stars have really had trouble getting things going since the Olympic break as they own just a shootout win and four losses. The biggest problem is that they have allowed 5 goals per game on average in the five games since the break, and it won't be easy to find the win column like that. The Kings have been powerful against clubs with a losing record at 21-7 in their last 28, and have owned Dallas as they have won five of their last six trips here. I'll go with Los Angeles here.Game: Nashville at Anaheim (10:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Anaheim -145 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2.1) Anaheim has stumbled out of the blocks after the break with three losses at home, but this team is too good to go very long without wrapping one up on home ice. The Predators, and their 3-8 mark in their last 11 on the road, will present a good opportunity here for the Ducks. The wheels fell off for the Predators their last time out allowing 8 goals, and in their last 171 on the road vs. a team with a winning home record, they are just 54-113-4. They have also not been able to bounce back off a big loss as they are 3-12 following a loss by 3 goals or more. Anaheim gets their house back in order with a win in this one.
