Today's NHL Hockey Picks:

Game: Florida at Pittsburgh (7:30 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on Florida +145 (moneyline) (risk 4 to win 5.8)

Pittsburgh has strung together six straight wins. Maybe it has done some good getting out of town as their last five wins were on the road. The Penguins have not nearly been the same team they were last year on home ice, as they are even at home in their last 22 games. They have already absorbed five home losses as a favorite of -150 or more and one of those was to this Florida team. The Panthers actually own a better road record than the Penguins do at home in those 22 games. The Panthers are 13-9 on the road while the Penguins are just 11-11 at home. The Panthers enter this one well rested off of two day’s rest and are 9-2 in their last 11. The Penguins have bitten the bullet against a hot offense as they are 3-7 against teams that scored 5+ in their last game. The Panthers are no stranger to winning here as they are 8-3 in the last 11 in the Steel City. The Panthers are a live dog here and get the call.

The Oilers have been surprising in the sense they have played equally well on the road as they have at home, with a winning record for each venue. The Canadiens have been an entirely different story as they have dominated at home. The biggest reason is the fact they have allowed just 77 goals to get through the net in their 29 home games, or just 2.6 a game. It seems the more this team plays in bunched games the more likely the game will be low scoring. They are now 10-4-1 to the UNDER when playing their third game in four nights, and they are also 6-1-1 to the UNDER when playing their fourth game in six nights - both trends active for this one. Edmonton has also been 7-2 to the UNDER when their opponent allowed two goals or less in their last game, so I like this one to finish UNDER the total.
