![]() Today's NHL Hockey Picks: The Nashville Predators have had one hiccup on the road, where they went winless on a four-game trip. They have surrounded that 0-4 with a 15-8 mark on the road. The Thrashers came out of the break very offensive, pounding out 10 goals in two games, but have fallen sharply in the last two scoring just 2 times. This is also a bad spot for the Thrashers who have not done well playing their fourth game in six nights as they stand in at just 1-6 overall in their last seven. The Predators have taken advantage of a days rest as they have turned in a 21-8 mark following a day off the ice. I'll go with Nashville here.Game: Boston at Toronto (7:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Boston -120 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2.5) Boston is without Marc Savard here but I think the rest of the team steps up and wins this game. This team is used to playing without him, after all as he missed 23 games earlier in the season. The Bruins have been quite good on the road this season, posting a near .500 mark. Toronto has been bad everywhere going 11-19 even at home, thanks to an anemic offense. In division games this year, this team has managed just 2.3 goals per game and in their last five games they have scored a total of just 6 goals. When facing a winning team the Leafs are just 9-20 this season including 1-7 in their last eight games. They are also just 3-13 this season after back-to-back road games. Take the Bruins here.Game: Vancouver at Colorado (9:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Vancouver -120 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2.5) Pick: 5 units on Game Total UNDER 5.5 -120 (risk 5 to win 4.2) The Vancouver Canucks continue to be an orphan team with the Olympics having taken place in their home city. This represents the 13th straight road game for the Canucks, and they have held up very well. The Canucks have a winning record on the trip, and have been revitalized by the break winning three of four since. The Avalanche has not been finding the net with a great deal of frequency, and their 7 goals last time out was more than a fluke, than a cure. They have played 15 of their last 23 to the UNDER. One of the reasons is that in those 15 UNDERs, the Avalanche scored less than 2 goals per game, so that puts them at 65.2% of their last 23 averaging under 2. The Canucks have taken on winning teams with a great deal of success at 20-8 in their last 28, while the Avalanche is 1-5 in their last six as a dog. The Avalanche is also 14-2 to the UNDER vs. a team with a winning percentage above .600. I'll go with Vancouver and the UNDER here.Game: Vancouver at Colorado (9:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 2 units on Vancouver -1.5 goals +240 (puckline) (risk 2 to win 4.8) The Avalanche has been grinding out UNDERs over their last 23, and one reason is the average of less than 2 goals in those 15 UNDERs over the last 23 games. Vancouver on the other hand has dominated winning teams at 20-8 while Colorado has had no fight as a dog when facing a better team as they are just 1-5 in their last six. The Avs will have trouble scoring vs. a team that is taking out winning teams, which means lay the wood on the -1.5 puckline, so grab Vancouver laying the 1.5 on the puckline.Game: Ottawa at Edmonton (9:35 PM Eastern) Pick: 4 units on Edmonton +1.5 goals -190 (puckline) (risk 4 to win 2.1) Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 5.5 -130 (risk 3 to win 2.3)
