Free Nhl Predictions - March 07, 2009

We had a perfect night on the ice yesterday, hitting our lone play.  Over the past month we are hitting 61% at 17-11 good for +28.9 units.  Today we have two premium plays, including a 5 unit selection.

Today's NHL Hockey Picks:

Game: New Jersey at New York Islanders (2:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 4 units on Game Total OVER 5 -130 (risk 4 to win 3.1)

The New Jersey Devils went through a scoring drought and it cost them two games, both resulting in shutouts. They have been hot otherwise, sandwiching nine wins around that pair of games and recently have been sticking the puck in the net to the tune of 4.25 goals a game in their last four. The islanders have only scored four goals in a game 12 times this season, but they have managed to do so three times in their last six games, so the offense has come to life in recent games. The Islanders have now played over to a record of 5-2-1 in their last eight vs teams with a .600 or better road mark. This one goes OVER the total.

The Oilers have maintained balance home and away, but on the season have scored two goals or less 29 times. That isn't so bad, but recently they have been held to two or less in five of their last eight games. Toronto amazingly has played seven of their last eight games that ended in either a shootout or in OT and that has inflated the goals scored in their games to push this one up to the six mark. Despite all the extra ice time and certain goals added to the final score, those seven games averaged less than six a game! Their last time out, which broke the string of seven straight, produced just three goals scored. These teams have identical marks of 5-1 to the under in this exact situation. Toronto when a dog of +101 to +150 and Edmonton when favored from -101 to -150. I like this one to go UNDER the total
