Colorado went into Detroit on Sunday and beat the mighty Red Wings on their home ice in overtime 4-3. Although it was a great win for the Avs, Colorado has been inconsistent this year. The Avs have struggled to get more then three wins in a row at any point during the season. So what's the difference tonight? The playoff push we have been talking about. Although it would be a miracle for the Avalanche to get a playoff spot, the fact of the matter remains that the Colorado franchise prides itself on playoff pushes and the 10 year streak of in playoff appearances. If Colorado wants that miracle to happen they will win tonight. We'll take the slight road dog here in the Avalanche.

Toronto is battling for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Toronto has 71 points and is only two points behind Carolina. In short, Toronto needs this win desperately. Toronto has only played 66 games compared to the 68 games that both Carolina and Montreal have played (the two teams ahead of them in the standings). Washington on the other hand is well out of the playoff picture. Washington has lost four of five and 9 out of their last 10 games! Most recently, the Caps suffered a 6-2 setback at the hands of the New York Islanders on Saturday night. Tonight will be no different with a ferocious home crowd behind them, Toronto looks to capitalize. We'll take the Leafs at home over the Capitals.

Calgary, Minnesota and Vancouver are battling for the Northwest Divisional Title. Vancouver leads right now with 81 points. Minnesota and Calgary are not far behind with 79 points. Late in the year the playoff battling teams seem to rise to the top and Calgary will do just that tonight, with a must win on the road against an inferior St. Louis team. St. Louis has been on a bit of a slide after winning four straight games in the middle part of February. They are 2-2 in their past four games with a shootout loss to the Rangers on Saturday. Calgary has beat St. Louis in both previous meetings this season. Calgary has won four straight and look to take over the top spot in the Northwest. Take a strong road team in Calgary over the Blues tonight.
