Hockey Picks - March 02, 2010We get back on the ice today for our first full day of NHL action after the Olympic break. When we left off, we were in the midst of our best hockey season ever at 255-177 (59%) for +160 units over the last four months. We get rollin' today with a pair of premium picks. We also take a look how the NHL can capitalize on the succes of the Olympics in the Dog Pound below.
![]() Today's NHL Hockey Picks: The Hurricanes are one team that was sorry to see the Olympics interrupt their hot hand as they had won five straight before the break, and 9 out of 11. They played five of those at home however, and were just 2-2 on the road. Maple Leafs have not fared well this season, but they have won two of their last three at home, and outscored the opponents 10-3 in the process. The Hurricanes have not been effective on the road, especially when posted as a dog where they are just 8-22. They have failed on the road, to a greater extent, vs. the worst teams as Carolina is just 1-7 on the road vs. a team with a home winning percentage of less than .400. It’s going to be harder on the Hurricanes to get energized here on the road after the long break. I'll go with Toronto here.Game: Los Angeles at Dallas (8:35 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 5.5 -121 (risk 3 to win 2.5) The Dallas Stars have been getting great play behind the net and in their last eight games, have held opponents to an average of less than two goals per game. That may be attainable again here vs. a Kings team that has scored 2 or less 27 times already this season, but at the same time the Kings have allowed 2 or less in 28 games. The Kings seem to play tougher in the role of a dog, and it has led to a 35-16-1 mark to the UNDER in their last 52 posted as an underdog. These teams have a history of playing some low scoring games in Dallas as the last four times the Kings came in here, the game failed to produce enough goals to go over as the UNDER has prevailed in each of the last four. I'll go with the UNDER in this one. ![]() NHL Hockey Picks Resources:
