Hockey Game Predictions - January 11, 2008
Split last night at 2-2. Tonight we have three picks...
Today's NHL Hockey Picks:
Game: St. Louis at Columbus (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Game Total OVER 5 -115 (risk 3 to win 2.6)
The Blues have held their last five opponents to 6 total goals. But, they are still 4-1 OVER in those games, thanks to their hot offense. They have had a decent offense all season long vs. division foes and in all home games. Columbus is 14-6 UNDER on the road but 13-10 OVER at home where they score at a fair rate. Their defense has given up 3.3 goals per game vs. division foes all season and 3.2 per game over their last five. They have allowed 12 goals in their last three games. We like this one to go OVER.
Game: New York Islanders at Calgary (7:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Game Total OVER 5 -125 (risk 3 to win 2.4)
Rick DiPietro is back but it hasn't helped. He just doesn't look right still. The Islanders are giving up 3.0 goals per game on the road this season and Calgary is scoring well right now. We expect Calgary to have success here, while allowing at least two goals themselves. The Islanders are 12-2 OVER the past two seasons after having lost 5+ of their last seven games. They are also 14-4 OVER during that span after allowing 3+ goals in two straight games.
Game: Minnesota at Chicago (8:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 3 units on Game Total OVER 5 -135 (risk 3 to win 2.2)
Minnesota pulled off a great shoutout victory over Detroit last night. It gets a whole lot easier tonight as they face Chicago. The Wild showed their scoring prowess putting up 5 goals in regulation against the stout Detroit defense. Chicago allows 3.0 goals per game on the season so expect Minnesota to have success agin here. The Wild also give up goals, especially on the road where they are allowing 3.3 per game. Over their last five games, they have given up 3.6 goals per game.
