Premium Picks

We rate each pick 1 to 5 units with 5 being the strongest play (read about units).
Risk 1% of your bankroll per unit (never risk more than 5% of total bankroll on any pick).

Game: New Jersey at Washington (1:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Washington +1.5 -220 (risk 3 to win 1.4)

Washington has struggled of late winning just one of their last seven games. That one win was against the Devils though. And, they have only lost by 2+ goals twice in their last seven games. New Jersey is not a team that blows other teams out on the road. When they win, it's almost always a close win.  We like this one to stay close and we'll back Washington +1.5.

Game: Pittsburgh at Tampa Bay (5:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 6.5 +128 (risk 3 to win 3.8)

The last six games played between these two teams all came in under this posted total of 6.5. Yes, Pittsburgh plays in high-scoring games on the road, but Tampa Bay is the antehesis of that. Eighteen of Tampa Bay's twenty seven home games have gone UNDER as they score much less here and allow much less here than they do on the road. They are even 14-7 UNDER at home this season against weak defensive opponents (allowing 2.9+ goals per game). They simply prefer to play defense and keep the score down. The Lightning are off a loss, making this play even better as they are 8-2 UNDER at home in that situation this year.

Game: Nashville at Columbus (6:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Nashville -207 (risk 3 to win 1.5)

Nashville has won 11 of 14 against Columbus over the past three seasons. The last two wins were 4-1 and 4-0. They are playing amazing hockey against division foes this year, winning these games by an average score of 3.6 to 2.5.  Columbus gives up 3.6 per game to division opponents and their scoring right now is weak (2.4 per game over last five). Against weak teams under 40%, Nashville is 35-9 the past two seasons. They are also 15-2 ove rthat span vs. terrible goalies that save under 88% of shots on goal (Ty Conklin allows 13% to get through). This season the Predators are 8-0 vs. teams that scored under 2.5 per game.

Game: Colorado at Anaheim (8:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 2 units on Anaheim -217 (risk 2 to win 0.9)

Colorado's porous defense has gotten worse lately, allowing 4.6 goals per game over their last five games. Anaheim scores 3.5 per game at home so it could be a long afternoon for the Avs. Anaheim finds a way to get lots of shots and Colorado allows a lot. Anaheim will be motivated here as they have really slipped of late losing six of their last eight and three in a row. They can't afford to let this opportunity pass them up. They also look for revenge for a loss at Colorado on February 13th. The Ducks are 21-11 revenging a road loss over the past two seasons.
