Nhl Playoff Predictions - February 24, 2009Today we return to the NHL ice on a tidy week-long run to the tune of 67%, 6-3 (+9 units). Five picks today with two 4-unit plays.  Today's NHL Hockey Picks: The Flyers have produced some excellent results on the NHL road, where most teams falter. They have now captured the win in five of their last six, and are playing with confidence. The Washington Capitals, once 18-1-1 at home have begun to take on some water. That invincible home record has now been tarnished with a 6-4 mark in their last 10 on home ice. They have been held even in the scoring department during these last 10 as they have produced 30 goals and allowed 30 goals. The Flyers have already hung a seven spot on this Capitals’ team this year. Right now the offense is sizzling, having produced 20 goals in the last four games, or five per contest. Plus, with two day’s rest the Flyers have played 12-3-2 to the OVER. The Flyers are a live dog here against a Cap's team that has faltered at home and allowed too many goals. I will go with the Flyers and the OVER here. Game: Los Angeles at Minnesota (8:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Los Angeles +150 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 4.5) Pick: 3 units on Game Total OVER 5 -130 (risk 3 to win 2.3) The Kings were really having some problems putting the puck in the net as they have been shutout eight times this season already, but just once in their last 15 games. This team has really been getting it done on the road since they discovered some offense. They are 7-2 in their last nine on the road and have averaged just shy of four goals a game during the nine-game road stretch. The Wild have been good at home with an 18-11-1 mark, but they have been tamed recently as they are just 5-5 in their last 10 on home ice. The Wild will also be playing in their third game in four nights - a situation that has not been conducive to finding the win column as they are just 5-12 in their last 17 in this spot. This is a good place for the surging Kings to get another win on the road. The Kings offense has produced just about four goals per game makes the OVER a call in this one as well as it sits at just five. Game: Columbus at Calgary (9:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Columbus +155 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 4.7) Columbus is an average team. They are however, one that is playing their best hockey of the season which makes them dangerous. The Blue Jackets have now only lost two of their last eight games, and one of those was in a shootout. They have gotten superb goaltending, allowing just 19 pucks to clear the net, or 2.4 a game. Calgary has been just the opposite. The Flames have lost just seven times all season at home, but have hit a speed bump as three of those seven have come in their last four home games. After turning in a 12-3 run, the Flames have slipped back as they are just 5-6 in their last 11. The dog has taken five of the last seven in this series. The Blue Jackets are out-playing the Flames right now, so I'll back them on the road here. Results: 2-2 NHL Hockey Picks Resources:
