Nhl Picks - February 24, 2008
Guys, we are obviously in the middle of a bad funk right now and for that we apologize. We know we will pull out of it and we're doing everything we can to expedite that. Hopefully today is the day we start the turnaround.
Today's NHL Hockey Picks:
Game: New Jersey at Washington (3:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 2 units on New Jersey -125 (moneyline) (risk 2 to win 1.6)
Alex Ovechkin faces Martin Brodeur here. We like Brodeur. He's 34-23 saving 92% of shots on goal this season. Over his last four games he has kept 107 of 114 shots out of the net. The Devils have allowed 2.5 goals per game on the season on the road while Washington gives up 3.0. Over their past five games, the numbers are 2.2 and 3.6, respectively. While Brodeur has been stellar, Kolzing has not. He is 21-26 thanks to an 88.9% save rate. The Devils are 9-1 this season vs. goalies that save under 89.5%. They are also 13-4 vs. teams that allow 3+ goals per game.
Game: Florida at New York Rangers (7:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 2 units on Florida +170 (moneyline) (risk 2 to win 3.4)
New York scores just 2.4 goals per game at home, which gives any visitor a chance. Right now we like the way the Florida offense is playing as they ahve put up 4+ goals in three of their last five games and seven of their last twelve. In post-All Star play, the Panther are 7-1 the past three seasons vs. teams allowing under 2.6 goals per game. Florida is 20-20 this season as an underdog while New York is just 3-10 revenging a road loss this season. Good value on Florida here.
Game: St. Louis at Phoenix (8:00 PM Eastern)Pick: 2 units on St. Louis +110 (moneyline) (risk 2 to win 2.2)
Phoenix is just 13-17 at home this season and under Wayne Gretzky, this team has severely underperformed vs. weak teams at home. In post-All Star play under Gretzky, the Coyotes are just 8-14 at home vs. losing teams. And, they are just 21-38 in the second of back-to-back home games. W elike the road team here.
Results: 1-2
