Game: Atlanta at Ottawa (3:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 1 unit on Atlanta +178 (risk 1 to win 1.8)
While it's a long shot, we think Atlanta has a decent shot at winning this game. Atlanta can score. They are averaging 3 goals per game on the season. If Atlanta can get to 3 goals here, they have a good shot as Ottawa is 15-17 when they allow 3 goals the past two seasons. The Thrashers have won four of the last six in this series including two of hte last three here in Ottawa. Atlanta is a rare team in that they are equally good on the road as they are at home. They have .500 marks across the board. Over the past two seasons, Atlanta is 15-12 vs. great teams (those outscoring opponents by 0.5+ goals per game). That includes a 7-4 mark on the road vs. the best of the best (those averaging 0.65+ goals per game). We'll take a flyer on the big underdog here.
Game: Boston at Buffalo (7:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 5 units on Buffalo -270 (risk 5 to win 1.9) Pick: 4 units on Game Total UNDER 6 +112 (risk 4 to win 4.5)
Buffalo has won 6 straight games here at home in this series and 12 of the last 14. In the last two games, Boston has managed just one goal in each. Buffalo averages 3.9 goals per game at home while giving up just 2.2 over their last five games. Boston allows 3.8 per game on the road although they have played solid defense their last five games. Buffalo tends to go UNDER vs. poor teams as they are now 42-24 UNDER at home the past two sesasons vs. losing teams. Boston is just plaing awful vs. elite teams. The Bruins are a ridiculuous 1-16 on the road the past two seasons vs. teams that outscore their opponents by 0.5+ goals per game (Buffalo has outscored opponents this year by an average of 0.9 per game overall and 1.1 per game at home). We'll take Buffalo and the UNDER here.
Game: Detroit at Phoenix (9:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 2 units on Game Total OVER 5.5 -110 (risk 2 to win 1.8)
Phoenix's terrible defense has gotten worse of late. They average 3.4 per game allowed on the season but over their past four games the Coyotes have allowed 19 goals. Detroit has given up 11 over their past three games so we like a lot of scoring in this game. Detroit is a good defensive team but Phoenix is 8-1 OVER the past two seasons in second-half play vs. teams that allow 2.5 or fewer goals per game. They are also 12-5 OVER following two straight losses this year.
