Today's NHL Hockey Picks:

Game: Philadelphia at Montreal (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: 3 units on Game Total UNDER 6 -105 (risk 3 to win 2.9)

Both of these teams can score but neither is doing a whole lot of that lately. Philadelphia is slumping, averaging 2.4 per game over their last five while Montreal is getting 2.2 per game over their last five. Philly's defense has been horrible lately but we expect and improvement here. The Flyers are 23-12 UNDER on the road after having lost 4+ of their last six games the past three seasons. Montreal is 7-1 UNDER this season comign off 1-goal road win. We like this one to be low scoring.

The Devils are just four points behind Ottawa in the Eastern Conference and they know how important this game is. "We know what time of the season it is, we know it's crunch time," New Jersey right wing Jamie Langenbrunner said. "We need to move up, and we have to play well to do that." The Devils are a .500 team on the road where they keep opponents to just 2.5 goals per game. Ottawa allows 3.1 per game at home and they have allowed 4+ goals in eight of their last eleven games! Facing that kind of defense, NJ has a great shot. The Devils are 21-9 this season vs. poor defenses (those averaging 30+ shots on goal against). The Devils are scoring right now and they are 37-13 the past three seasons after scoring 3+ goals in three straight games. Ottawa is just 9-14 coming off a loss. We see tremendous value on New Jersey at this line.

The Lightning have caught fire of late going 8-4 in their last twelve. But, we must remember who this team is. They still own the second-worst record in the Eastern Conference. They are 12-22 this season vs. losing teams and 5-13 vs. teams that allow 3+ goals per game. We don't feel Tampa Bay should be favored like this vs. anyone right now and as such we'll fade them.
