Hockey Pick - February 13, 2010We finished 1-2 yesterday. Today we are back with five premium NHL picks as we are 250-173 (60%) over the last three months for +157 units.
![]() Today's NHL Hockey Picks: The Devils are 17-13 on the road, holding opponents to 2.4 goals per game. Carolina is only a .500 team at home where they give up 3.0 per game. The Devils have struggled of late but they are off a nice 5-2 win over Nashville and they know that they need to enter the break on an up note. Carolina has been playing great hockey, but they are due for a fall and this is the game where I think that can happen. The Devils should be confident after having dispatched of Carolina in both prior meetings this year by a combined score of 6-2.Game: New Jersey at Carolina (7:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 2 units on New Jersey -1.5 goals +240 (puckline) (risk 2 to win 4.8) Carolina has been rolling and New Jersey struggling. But, the fact that the Devils are favored here should tell you something. They are the better team and they are more in need of a win as their lead in the Atlantic over Pittsburgh has dwindled to just two points. Martin Brodeur is 6-1-1- with a 1.38 GAA in his last eight regular season games vs. the Hurricanes. I like New Jersey's chances at a big win here.Game: Ottawa at Detroit (7:10 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on Detroit -150 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 2) The Senators are coming on strong. They took care of the East's best team last game by dispatching of Washington 6-5. But that hard-fought emotional win may just hurt them here. Detroit is now at risk of missing the playoffs, so I expect a strong effort from them here. Injuries have hurt the Red Wings, but Johan Franzen appears to be back to form after missing 55 games with an ACL. Ottawa is 23-11 at home, but they are jsut 12-15 on the road, getting outscored on average by nearly a full goal per game. The Red Wings play great defense in this building and that should lead them to a win.Game: Washington at St. Louis (8:00 PM Eastern) Pick: 3 units on St. Louis +170 (moneyline) (risk 3 to win 5.1) The Washington Caps have had a lot of momentum to ride this season, but when they lose they seem to let down. They have had more difficulty off a loss than any other facet of their game, and in fact have a losing straight-up record after a loss. The Blues have not played well at home for some reason all season, but change may be blowing in the wind as they are 2-0 on this homestand, and have outscored Toronto and Detroit by an 8-3 count. The Caps as mentioned are at their worst off a loss, but there is one area they have been even worse in. The Blues are in the Caps head's here in St. Louis as they have won the last seven meetings! Great situation at long odds here for the Blues, St. Louis gets the call.Game: Washington at St. Louis (8:05 PM Eastern) Pick: 4 units on St. Louis +1.5 goals -190 (puckline) (risk 4 to win 2.1) Washington has been great this season, but how great? The reality is they are 18-14 on the road, allowing 3.1 goals per game. Right now their defense is lax as they have allowed 23 goals in their last five games. They have a losing record after suffering a loss. Teams go through slumps and this appears to be one for the Caps after reeling off 14 in a row. I like the Blues to keep this one close. Results: 3-2 ![]() NHL Hockey Picks Resources:
